Review Of New Social Networking Site Blellow

blewllow

Earlier this week I signed up and received a  beta invite for the new social networking site blellow. Instead of me going over the site features in great detail. I thought it would be better to let them explain it. Check out their “How It Works” video:

So let me give you some of my thoughts on this site regarding what I like. I will do it  in list form. People like lists:

-I like the interface. Its just as the point out in the video, “just like Twitter”

-The kudos thing is good, allows you to build up your reputation as being knowledgeable in the field

- It has the right idea allowing people to find jobs, get knowledgeable advice, or collaborate. All good things

-Love you can share files

-You can flag your post as “looking for help”

- I get 300 characters instead of 140. I admit it, always wish I had more room to type

-They have a very active community manager mandi. Kudos to you for doing a great job.

-It has taken the “best” features from Plurk, Twitter, Linkedin and Pownce and turned it into a mashup. Let me break this one down:

Plurk: The kudos system as well as the threading of conversation.

Twitter: The interface

Pownce: The ability  to share files

Linkedin: The business/finding jobs aspect

Now for what it needs. Its still in closed beta, so I need to be nice:

-Allow users to put their Twitter feed into the site

-Put a place for your facebook profile in the profile section

-Not sure if the paid model to post a job will work. I think it maybe a problem. Yet, I know you need montezie the site.

If you want an invite feel free to ask for one on Twitter.

Also, please note that by doing this review I become eligible for a free SXSWi pass. I already have mine. Therefore, if I do receive one, I will be coming up with a contest to give it away. So if you want to go to SXSWi check back for an update.

Dave, thanks for taking time to create a review of Blellow. We have plans to add ALL of the features you mentioned here plus others. As you saw, it's still VERY much beta and we're trying to work out all of the bugs by 3/13 in time for SxSW. I think once it's in full swing you'll be very happy with it. :)

I'd love to know how it compares to cliKball. Have you seen it? Want a beta invite so you can compare the two and let us know?

Very cool. I like the idea of the Twitter mashup. Now to see if it gets adoption. I'm game to test it out. I'll also be tuning in for the SXSWi giveaway. Cool idea.

So it's sort of like Usenet Meets Twitter.
